Partnerships

WNC Bridge Foundation has been a “partner for health” in Western North Carolina since 2003 when we began as CarePartners Foundation. In January 2019, we became WNC Bridge Foundation, broadening our focus to serve the 18 counties and Qualla Boundary of WNC.

Our work has provided opportunities to collaborate with community members in many capacities, including becoming a responsive grant-making organization, supporting individuals needing help accessing necessary medical equipment, and collaborating with local governments grappling with a pervasive lack of rural healthcare access. After a year of research, evaluation, and community input in 2023, our Board of Directors and staff decided to focus our impact on Grants, Community Initiatives, and Partnerships.

Partnerships specifically will create innovative and targeted strategies to deliver our “partnerships for health” centered around three efforts:

  • defined and measurable health access outcomes
  • creating wealth with WNC residents
  • advocating for improved health policies

Our partners will be established grantees from our Grant programs, referral sources from our Community Initiatives program, and local government sources such as health departments. We will leverage funds from additional external sources for this work as well as support from WNC Bridge Foundation endowment funds. We will also advocate for the health of WNC people and the environment as part of these efforts.
