Mission Belles Nursing Education Fund Scholarship

The Mission Belles Nursing Education Fund is named in honor of Mission Hospital’s Nursing School Alumni and may be used for expenses incurred during the senior year in an associate degree or baccalaureate degree in nursing program (first time RN). WNC Bridge Foundation is sponsoring the awards.

“Charting Our Future” was the dream of the Mission Belles to provide nursing scholarships to future nurses. This program provided wonderful training, tremendous responsibilities, and made lifelong friendships. They have been actively involved in caring for their communities long since their official careers ended.

Important Details:

For RN students enrolled in a fully accredited associate or baccalaureate of nursing program, graduating between December 2025 and August 2026 in the Western North Carolina area or in border states of Western North Carolina offering in-state tuition.

Application Deadline:

Received or postmarked by May 31, 2025.

Application Submission:

Completed packet with online application, two recommendations, official transcripts, and any attachments must be submitted as a complete packet by the application deadline. Late submissions will not be considered.

  • For seniors who graduate between December 2025 and August 2026.
  • Funds will be distributed after the final drop/add date for the semester and will be made payable to the school in the name of the student.
  • Unused funds must be refunded to the Mission Belles Nursing Education Fund.
  • Persons enrolled in a fully accredited Associate or Baccalaureate of Nursing program who will graduate between December 2025 and August 2026, in the Western North Carolina area.

Criteria:

  • Overall B average (3.0 unweighted GPA) from the nursing program in which the student is currently enrolled.
  • Official transcript, two sealed recommendation letters, and completed application must be submitted as a complete packet by the application deadline of May 31, 2025.
  • Late submissions will not be considered.

Health Science Scholarships

We are committed to the people of WNC and to meeting the health challenges that face our region. We believe a crucial component of our mission is to ensure our communities have exceptional healthcare workers. We achieve this by:

  • Beginning in 2025, we will award $2,000 scholarships each year to deserving high school seniors in the 18 counties of WNC who are pursuing health-related occupations and have been identified by their teachers as having the potential to make a significant impact in the healthcare field.   • Health Scholarships aim to enhance healthcare in WNC by supporting individuals who are pursuing health-related occupations. Through these scholarships, a crucial component of our mission is to ensure our communities have exceptional healthcare workers to meet the health challenges that our region faces.
