Neighborhood Partnership Milestone
Sophie Dixon, President of the Shiloh Community Association, has a clear goal: she wants her neighbors to enjoy the same safe, supportive community she did while raising her family in Asheville’s Shiloh neighborhood. Her vision is a place where families can raise children, older adults can stay in their homes as they age, and everyone can come together at community events to strengthen their neighborhood.
For 25 years, the Shiloh Community Association has worked hard to bring their mission of Building on the Legacy; Embracing the Future to life. Their efforts recently reached a major milestone: the creation of a community development corporation (CDC) to support Shiloh’s future growth and well-being. Achieving this took years of dedication from Sophie, the Board, and community members. With help from Consultant Nick Forest, Attorney Abbie Hornberger from Roberts & Stevens, and Partnerships Officer Sara Coplai from WNC Bridge Foundation, the Shiloh CDC was officially approved in November 2024.
