Brighter Days Grief Camps

Carolina Caring, with sponsorship support from WNC Bridge Foundation, recently hosted two impactful camps in Burke and McDowell Counties. The camps were designed to support children navigating their grief journey, offering a safe space for them to process their losses.

Many of the children who attended the camps had experienced the devastating loss of loved ones for a variety of reasons including COVID-19, sudden illness, overdose, and tragic accidents. The camps provided a range of activities to help them cope, including memory-making projects, games, and techniques for managing anxiety and stress. The children also had the chance to connect with peers who were going through similar experiences, fostering a sense of community and understanding.

Each camper left with a “feel better” bag filled with books, coping cards, and other items to support them during difficult moments. The experience was profoundly moving for both the children and the counselors, who were honored to be a part of their healing journey.

Children at Brighter Days Grief Camp in Burke County enjoy a playful moment during goat yoga, combining relaxation and fun with their furry friends.
