Back on the Road After Helene

Jacob and his wife Sara are among those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Through WNC Bridge’s Community Initiatives, Sara’s vehicle received vital repairs, offering much-needed support during a challenging time. Jacob shares their story:

When Hurricane Helene struck, it unleashed destruction, unlike anything we had ever faced. Widespread flooding caused two dams near our home to fail, sending torrents of water crashing through our neighborhood. Within moments, our townhouse was engulfed. The floodwaters rose so quickly that everything on the lower level was forced to the ceiling. The debris and mud made it impossible to salvage anything.

Sara, our dog Ramsey, and I barely escaped. We had to force open the door and swim to safety as the water surged higher. Sara’s catering business, Sara’s Event Services, was devastated. Most of her equipment, stored downstairs, was destroyed, and her car—essential for deliveries—was severely damaged.

Repairing Sara’s car is a critical step in helping us rebuild. Thanks to WNC Bridge and its donors, we’ve regained hope. Seeing her back on the road and restarting her business represents a huge win for us. We are forever grateful for the support that has helped us begin again. Starting over is daunting, but your kindness has made it possible to move forward.

Getting Sara's business rolling again is a huge win for us, and we are forever grateful. Thank you to all the donors who made the repairs possible. ~ Jacob
