Welcome Matt Groome

We are honored to recognize Matt Groome as the Chair of WNC Bridge Foundation’s Board. A lifelong Asheville native, Matt brings deep-rooted commitment to community service, strategic leadership, and a heart for giving back.

In addition to his leadership on the Board, Matt has built a distinguished career in financial services. After beginning his professional career as a CPA and senior tax associate at a large regional accounting firm in Charlotte, Matt was recruited by his brother, Tate, and father, George, to join the family business. Since 2009, he has been an integral part of Colton Groome & Company, with plans to help guide the firm into its 100th year in 2050.

At Colton Groome, Matt leads the Retirement Plan Team and works closely with Personal Financial Planning clients. He quickly became recognized as an expert in his field, known for his passion in helping business owners, nonprofit leaders, and employees reach their retirement goals. In 2016, he was named one of the Top 50 Retirement Plan Advisors in the U.S. under age 40 by the National Association of Plan Advisors.

A proud graduate of Asheville High School and UNC-Chapel Hill (with a master’s in accounting), Matt combines local insight with a strong financial background to help ensure the Foundation continues to grow and serve our region for years to come.

When he’s not at the board table or volunteering, you’ll likely find Matt hiking with his wife, Lauren, and their children, Dani and Turner, coaching youth sports—or defending his title as a seven-time Asheville Kickball Champion.
