WNC Bridge Foundation concluded its 3rd Annual Drums & Dragons boat race at Lake Julian Park on Saturday June 22. Drums & Dragons is Asheville’s premier Dragon Boat Race raised over $40,000.00 to support the amazing services provided by local non-profits including Girls on the Run of WNC, Pisgah Legal Services, MountainCare, The Community Table, and Blue Ridge Health to name a few.
The event drew a crowd of over 700 people who enjoyed race day activities including food trucks, an interactive family zone, and new to the race this year, a beer garden sponsored by Pisgah Brewing Company.
“MountainCare has participated in Drums and Dragons since the beginning, and every year just keeps getting better and better,” notes Elizabeth Williams, Executive Director for MountainCare. “Drums and Dragons is an amazing way for us to connect with our community while raising needed funds for the Rathbun House, Adult Day, Grief Support, and Music Therapy. It is not like any event that I have ever participated in and we wouldn’t miss it.”
